BSNL will Discontinue Unified Messaging Services from 7th December, 2015

BSNL has withdrawn it’s UMS (Unified Messaging Services) such as Voice Mail Service, Fax Service and Email Service from first week of next month i.e 7th Onwards across the country.

State run Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced to shutdown UMS services as per latest information received from BSNL Official Sources. BSNL pushed SMS notification through ‘BT-BSNLTR’ on 21-11-2015 at 4:34PM conveying about the closure of Unified Messaging Services due to technical reasons/limitation. 


BSNL SMS notification read as ‘Dear Customer, due to technical reasons, UMS services such as Voicemail Service, FAX service and Email Service will not be available from  07-12-2015 onwards’. 



From this message BSNL will no longer continue its Unified Messaging Services and provide any assistance to customer already subscribed due to technical reasons.


At the time of phone is busy, switched off, out of coverage or the customer is simply too busy to take the call BSNL Voice Mail Service (VMS) was really helpful for customers to get details of call details through VMS. BSNL VMS available to both Prepaid and Postpaid Mobile customers to greet the caller and records a message from the caller, which the customer can retrieve later at his convenience from anywhere in the world. 


Earlier, BSNL Voice Mail Service was completely free service offered, but after will be charged normal call charges to retrieve stored voice messages from voice mail box. BSNL Customer allowed activating VMS by sending an SMS as ACT VMS to 53733. Customers were allowed to configure their voice mail box (set password, set personalized greetings etc) through BSNL Voice Mail Number dialing 17000.

The above UMS services will not be available for BSNL GSM Mobile customers (Prepaid and Postpaid) with effect from 07-12-2015 onwards.


All other terms and conditions will remain the same.
