BSNL to offer WiFi Services for 12th South Asian Games to be held in Guwahati and Shillong from February, 2016 onwards in all Stadiums under WiFi Services.
State run Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to offer WiFi Services during the 12th South Aisan Games co-hosted by Guwahati and Shillong which covers all stadiums for customers who visit to view games on this experience.
Latest information from BSNL sources speaking to media in a statement BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava said, ‘BSNL is rolling out WiFi services in all Stadiums during the South Asian Games being held in Guwahati and Shillong'.
The There will be 23 sport disciplines for the 12 South Aisan games of which 16 will be held in Guwahati, Assam and 7 in Shillong, Meghalaya.
To benefit spectators BSNL is planned to cover all 14 venues for the South Asian Games of which 10 venues for the 15th sport disciplines will be held in Guwahati and 4 Venues for the remaining 8 sport disciplines will be held in Shillong.
BSNL already started work to setup high speed 3G and 3G mobile towers to provide the heavy traffic during the South Asian Games 2016. BSNL will upgrade all existing 3G and 2G mobile towers of nearby Venues by end of this month 31st December, 2015.
The South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC) is governing all these games and expecting nearly 4500 sportspersons and officials from 8 countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) to participate in 23 events in SAG (South Asian Games) 2016.
BSNL will purchase additional 10Gbps connectivity from PGCIL (Power Grid Corporation of India Limited) to improve the quality of services of Broadband services between Shillong to Guwahati and Guwahati to Kolkata.
In view of the above, BSNL arranging special stalls at Guwahat Airport to provide BSNL SIM card instantly and upgrade with portable photo copier, portable camera and printer for documentation process so that visitors can avail instant WiFi services while traveling at near railway stations to game venues and accommodation.
