BSNL on Public Interest advice all BSNL customers not make any bill payment through Paytm website.
State owned Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) informs all BSNL Landline/Broadband customers ‘Not to make any BSNL Landline or Broadband Bill payment through Paytm as such payments will cause disconnection of their services, which stated on Kerala Circle issued a press release.
Most of the BSNL customers attracted to Paytm cash back offerings on Bill payment/recharge coupons hence customers using paytm wallet for bill payments.
According to the latest information BSNL authorities has clarified that, Paytm is not authorized to collect BSNL Bill Payments. BSNL reacted on the issue of one its customer who have paid their Telephone bill through Paytm were got disconnected and the customer brought to the notice of higher authorities about payment of bill through Paytm. BSNL based upon complaint received from customer investigated, it was found that Paytm is not officially authorized to collect BSNL Bill payments through their Payment gateway.
BSNL issued a notice to the concerned Paytm official to withdraw the link enabled on their Portal for BSNL bill payment. Paytm reacted immediately and removed BSNL bill payment link and agreed to pay back the amount collected earlier from BSNL customers unauthorized method.
The press release also stated that, as one time goodwill measure, BSNL is reconnecting such Telephone connections which disconnected based upon customer request ensuring payment of BSNL bill within 3 days at any BSNL counter or any other authorized channel.
Finally, BSNL has advised instead of paying BSNL bills through third party websites better to use BSNL Online Portal which is safe and avoid disconnection or communication.
