BSNL has announced to shutdown one of its existing VAS (Value Added Services) MMS services from 14th March, 2016 onwards.
State owned Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to Shutdown Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) with the start of Social network messaging services from Whatsapp, Facebook, Hike, Google (Hangout) etc. In view of increase in usage of social media sites messaging network BSNL has decided to shutdown MMS services from 14th March, 2016 onwards.
According the information from BSNL sources, Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) allows users to send messages in the form of Picture (Multimedia) format from mobile to mobile with minimal charges. After arrival of social network messengers attracted users widely has resulted BSNL to take decision not to continue its MMS services anymore.
BSNL has sent out notification message to its customers informing them that due to technical reasons, BSNL will no more continuing MMS services from 14th March, 2016 onwards.

Social network messengers are allowing users to send text, picture, videos etc., at free of cost within the group. Moreover, Smartphone are playing vital role coming with preinstalled mobile apps to send multimedia messages at free of cost.
